Can ppl hack into my GW account???
I've been playin GW for long time so i have lots of nice items n gold. And i'm bit worried some1 might hack into my account n steal everything.
I've never used any bot n never will. But i'm more worried bout ppl hacking into account using my IP address, etc. Cos alot of times when i log onto this website, my GW suddenly runs super slow, like some1 is downloading info from my PC. I'm NOT accusing anyone here but if i log in n post something, mod can get my IP address.. n i find it weird that i only get this super lag AFTER i log on here.. p.s. i haven't get super lag recently, but i did get em alot couple of weeks ago, when i was sellin heaps of perfect items.. Using your IP address? Not likely.
Either the person has to guess your password, or plant a keylogger onto your computer through a third party program. Gold selling sites, "hack" sites, botting sites can all plant a keylogger on you. Maybe your lag comes from lack of RAM or even spyware gotten from other sites. I honestly doubt that a moderator on this site would want to take your account, seeing that you havn't done too much on this site to be well known. Moderators wouldn't take your IP address just to hack someone, let alone pick yours for no reason. |

basically just stay away from any unoffical programs such as skill calculaters and programs that require u to run them before running gw because they often can't be traced till its 2 late.
also it goes without saying but i will say it anyway, stay away from gold sites, if u don't u run the risk of getting hacked and u will break the eula and also damage the in ecomany. |

Ok thanks thats good to know.
I've never been to "Gold selling sites, "hack" sites, botting sites can all plant a keylogger on you." so i should be safe i guess. But its weird why i got lag only AFTER loggin in here, I have 1GB RAM on my PC, and I dont have any spyware on my PC. I dont go to dodgy websites that give spywares, n if i do get spyware somehow i'll remove it asap, if it something thats hard to remove i can easily quick format HDD n reinstall everything on my PC. |

Maybe it's just a technical thing, seeing that I've never felt intense lag while running both Guild Wars and this site.
My computer is hardly a gaming PC either, low memory, low RAM, crap loads of spyware, and yet, I've never faced any problems while running both at the same time. Maybe someone from the technical section of this forum can pop in and help >_> |

That's why I keep a rifle underneath my kitchen table for when I eat, and maybe you should keep one by your computer. |

Some of the newer browsers also have anti spyware and pop up blockers this can lead to a bit of latency.
I think it'd be worth having a look into the technicians corner from the main site here, as there are alot of posts/threads that will help you reduce in game latency. |

Firefox + GIF animations visible lead to noticeable lag, atleast what I've noticed. Usually fixes it when FF is scrolled so that no gif animations are visible.
Might be similar with other browsers, as well, 'unno. |

I notice the ads on this site slowing things down a fair bit from time to time. I use FF.
Of course it is also a good idea to not use the same password (or email address I guess) for GW as you do on forums/community websites - in case they are compromised. |
